YouTube is a website for sharing videos. Its headquarters is in California, USA. It was founded in 2005 and has grown to be a popular video-sharing site that offers its services worldwide. Content on YouTube may be uploaded by individuals, organizations, and media outlets. There is something for everyone on YouTube. Even unregistered users can watch videos on the site. They, however, cannot upload any videos of their own. There is no limit to the number of videos that registered users can upload. YouTube is mostly free to view, and users can view almost all the videos free of charge. However, there are premium channels which may require a user to subscribe before they can view any content.
It uses the VP9 and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video formats. It uses the Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP protocol. From July 2010, YouTube allows users to upload videos that are not longer than 15 minutes. It accepts almost all container formats. It is, therefore, possible to upload a video using a smartphone.
