conversion proplems

I seem to be having a fairly common problem but have not read where any has found a solution the videos upload fine then they either do not convert or they do not convert properly.

An error occurred while trying to convert a video. Commands Executed & Output (if any) are shown below

You can disable future notices via your config file '/classes/config.inc.php'

Conversion errors are produced by server side modules installed on your server (FFmpeg/Mencoder/FlvTool2).
This is NOT a PHPmotion error. Consult with your webhost to resolve this.

the files are being uploaded I watched in temp dir. the wmv files are being transfered to the uploads/avi dir. the files are then partly converted sometimes as far as to create a thumbnail, more often not. then it just stops. I NEED HELP!

and upload a new video and post the results.

well this was a asf video and if you look at the log file it shows this:

I had the same problem with my vps. Anyone know where to delete the video that is not converted?
I check the /upload  & /upload/avi folders, it is not there. But it is using up my disk storage.

ok it doesn't always do this to asf files if I send this same file to the website 10 time it might properly convert it once, 7 will disaper all together, 1 will be in fast motion and 1 wil convert but be unaccessable. and asf files aren't the only ones it does it to. wmv have about the same results as asf, mpg's just vanish in to a cyber black hole, flv's lock up when played after conversion and on at least one occasion locked the website up to the point where nothing could be uploaded at all, I had to delete the old website and do a clean install. sence the install it has gotten better I'm only loosing about 4 out of 10 videos but the member profiles are not accessing the DB properly the user's sex, birthdate, and relationship status will not change. also the converter is not always doing disk cleanup after conversion I have unused dir's in the temp dir, unconverted files in the upload/avi dir, partialy converted files in the upload dir. and I had an undeleted and visable params file in the temp dir. while that one was there I could not upload anything.

so if your getting this error check the temp dir and see if you have undeleted param file or undeleted temp dir's by the name of the file in the error. for example

temp/KNgFeQCgFYTFlJrOATZ4/

this problem seams to come from failed uploads. I now check the temp dir once a day and keep it clean it has helped

my hosts seem to be skirting around the whole ffmpeg issue but I get the problem on wordpress as well but for all file types.
