Problems with install
« on: January 25, 2010, 10:56:32 PM »
Hi,
I purchased the proMOTION template a while ago.

I have a working phpmotion up with the default template. Problem is when i uploaded the promotion template as instructed and enabled it in the admin area, all i get is a blank page when i go to the domain, www.yamovie.net. I get no error logs what so ever.

Also when i changed back from the promotion to the default template, i get new errors in the default template aswell. For example when i upload a video it will be added on the site but without title.
See http://www.yamovie.net/videos/load/recent

Any suggestions on what might have gone wrong?

I already answered this in the ticket you submitted.  Your permissions were set all wrong.  You had all of the template files and directories chmod to 600.   Directories should be set to 755, files to 644.

Pls help!! everything is working perfectly fine until I installed the files over. It is showing a blank page. Please help. The support has asked us to buy the installation but I am sure it is a problem with the template because we followed exactly the steps but it shows an empty page.

I replaced back to the original v3.5 file is it is working fine. Please help asap!

I already fixed yours too and answered this in your ticket.

You had the same kind of permission issue as the OP.  I changed your permissions to the correct settings and your site is working fine now.

Thank you for the fast help! Really appreciate it!

Because the installation file didn't said anything about installation need to change the permission and I changed most to 755 or 777 but it still don't work. can you advise what is needed to be changed?

You shouldn't change any permissions when installing PHPmotion.  The installation script does this for you when you enter your FTP credentials.  The ONLY exception to this is the cgi-bin directory (and it's contents) which you need to manually chmod to 755.

Setting all of your permissions to 777 is asking for trouble.

Hi,

I mean the installation for the ProMotion, it only states that the files should be replaced, but didn't states the need to change permission. So what permission do I need to change for the theme to work? Because all was working properly before that i replace the files from ProMotion 3.5.

That's the point, you don't change any permissions when installing a template...

Yeah I get what you mean. I never changed never permission before and installed the original phpmotion and it works, but after installing phpMotion theme (red) without changing any permission (but just replacing the files over the original theme), it does not work (shows a blank screen), therefore want to check with you what permission is there need to be changed so the installation can be successful?

Hi!

I discover what the problem is. I replaced the files again from the template from the phpmotion3.51 and it shows a blank screen again. When I replace the config.inc.php and config.php which is included in the latest rev34 update, the theme works again.

wonder if it is an issue due to the template files not updated with the latest build of rev34?

(the phpmotion theme(red) i was referring in previous post was the promotion red, sorry for the confusion)
