In our last article we talked about the great importance of having a lot of content on your website. And for a video sharing website, the most important type of content that you can have is the videos themselves.

In this article, we will be looking at the tools that you can use to add more videos to your PHPmotion based website. Each one of these tools has been designed to make the task of adding more videos much easier. We call these tools ADDONS or POWERTOOLS.

Mass Video Embedder

This is one of our most popular addon Powertool. This tools allows you as the website owner to easily add videos that you find on Youtube. You are able to search for videos (just like you would on Youtube) and the Mass Video Embedder will show you thousand of videos that match your search term. You them simply select the ones that you want and you click the add button. In a matter of a few hours, you can have added hundreds of videos. These videos will show instantly on your website. You have the ability to add your own title and description etc., but the tool will pick up the current description as it appears on Youtube.

Video Embedder

This Powertool works in a similar way to the Mass Video Embedder that we described above. The main difference is that its designed for your members and not you the site admin. When you members login to your website, they will be presented with an addition menu item (at the video upload menu). This will say “Upload a video from Youtube”. If they go with this option, they will be able to copy and past the URL of the video they like on your tube. An example is they would a past a link like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMH0bHeiRNg

They will then be able to automatically add the video (show above) to your website. What we think is really great about this tool, is just how easy it is for your members to use it. In less that 3 clicks, they will have added their favourite Youtube video to your website.

Massuploader

If you have a lot of videos stored on your desktop/laptop, how do you upload all of them to your website? The traditional way would be to upload each video one by one. The Massuploader way is to upload all of them in one go. This addon works by allowing you to upload the videos to your website via FTP. This is much faster than uploading them using a web browser on your website. Once they are on your server, you can then use the Massuploader to add them to your database all in one go. You will be able to add titles and descriptions all in one go.
